The session will address potential challenges as well, like accuracy with accents and the need for editing and revision after using voice-to-text while also allowing for innovation from participants to share ways they think it might be useful in their own classroom.

This presentation debunks the myth of AI detectors as a foolproof solution for identifying AI-generated content. We’ll look at the limitations of these tools, emphasizing how you can design strategies for your students to show their writing process.

By fostering open communication and establishing clear expectations about the use-or non-use-of AI, educators are in a better position to manage the challenges presented by AI in the classroom and assist students in maintaining academic integrity.

Once ChatGPT showed up in late 2022, several companies rushed to create AI sites and apps specifically for educators. Many started off as free but have now moved to "freemium" models. Teachers can do almost all the things those sites offer for free using ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and/or Co-Pilot if they know how to prompt them correctly. In this presentation, we'll talk about the things you can do in the free accounts to take tasks off your plate as educators, compare some of the sites, and learn how to write better prompts.

Cybersecurity Challenges in Education: Protecting Sensitive Data in a Vulnerable Environment
Tuesday March 11, 2025 12:30pm - 1:15pm EDT
Educational institutions face significant cybersecurity challenges due to unique network infrastructures and security policies, often made vulnerable by users bypassing protections. Recent incidents, such as a North Korean cyberattack using an online game to spread malware, highlight the risks posed by seemingly harmless activities, like students disabling antivirus software to play games on school laptops. While some educational institutions have taken steps to secure their systems, others have seen vulnerabilities exposed through inadequate controls, especially in research labs that store valuable and sensitive data. With schools increasingly targeted by ransomware and data breaches involving personal and financial information, it’s crucial to address these vulnerabilities. Join this session to explore how educational institutions can strengthen cybersecurity defenses against evolving threats.

Maximize the benefit of using trigonometric functions in our real- life situations
Tuesday March 11, 2025 1:30pm - 2:15pm EDT
Apply trigonometric formulas such as sine and cosine laws to real-life situations by allowing students to estimate the earth's diameter, using sticks, shadow reading in their schools and other schools with different latitudes.
Students will develop an understanding of scientific concepts using facts, theories, principles, and models. New mathematical concepts are proven to estimate the radius of the earth of objects that are impossible manually to measure.

The audience will watch the experiment, analyze data and learn how to apply it in their classroom. The final target of this presentation is to simplify the use of trigonometric functions for students.
