Once ChatGPT showed up in late 2022, several companies rushed to create AI sites and apps specifically for educators. Many started off as free but have now moved to "freemium" models. Teachers can do almost all the things those sites offer for free using ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and/or Co-Pilot if they know how to prompt them correctly. In this presentation, we'll talk about the things you can do in the free accounts to take tasks off your plate as educators, compare some of the sites, and learn how to write better prompts.

The session will share practical strategies for using Google Docs to address both sides of the ed-tech equation: tools that make it easier for teachers to innovate, plan & create and platforms that make student learning more dynamic, collaborative, and intuitive.

We'll explore how smart chips can transform research projects, how building blocks can help teachers quickly replicate frequently used templates, and how the document outline feature can help students independently navigate complex research materials. Participants will also learn how pageless formats can be used to create more flexible visual presentations, and how cover images can make student portfolios and teacher resources more professional and appealing.
